Years ago, USA TODAY ran a Friday feature on the weekend ahead in the NFL. The author gave out stars based upon the "significance" of the game ... five stars to the top games and one to the clunkers.
The Centennial Conference staff liked the feature so much ... we claimed it for our own a few years ago and list our "Five-Star Matchups" on our Daily Update that is sent out to subscribers via email. If you would like to receive the Daily Update, please drop us a note at kkupec@centennial.org.
We'll post our Five-Star Matchups here on the Centennial blog on Saturdays, letting you know what we think are the games to watch in the Conference. We hope to see you at a Conference event today!
***** FIVE-STAR MATCHUPS *****#12 Muhlenberg at Johns Hopkins (Men's Soccer), 4:00This traditional CC lidlifter is one of the
premier matches of any Centennial season. The
Mules (3-0) have never defeated the
Blue Jays (5-1) in Baltimore in nine tries (0-8-1). Of course, Hopkins has not won in Allentown since 2001, allowing the series to be deadlocked at 10-10-1.
Swarthmore at Franklin & Marshall (Women's Soccer), 12:00Two of the three unbeaten teams in the Conference meet in the CC opener. The
Diplomats (5-0) lead the series, 23-2-1, but the
Garnet (3-0-1) has taken two of the last three including the 2004 meeting in Lancaster. Three of the last four matches have gone to overtime.
